Del Oro Frosh Boys Start League Play With a Perfect 12-0 Record.
With three wins this week against Colfax, Placer, and Lincoln, the Del Oro Freshman Boys basketball team pushed their season record to a sterling 12-0. In the frosh version of the Kendall Arnett, hosted by Placer High School, the Golden Eagles prevailed against Colfax and Placer. Austin Soldano led the way against the Falcons of Colfax with 14 points. Sam Swedensky and Sam Pontillo provided balanced scoring against Placer with 10 points each.
After a short break to celebrate the New Year, the Del Oro frosh stayed on the road and battled the scrappy Lincoln Fighting Zebras. The Golden Eagles shook off a slow start to pull away in the second half with Jordan Huckaby pouring in 23 points.
Other highlights in the early season were tournament championships at Rocklin and Buhach Colony, in Atwater. Upon conclusion of the Rocklin tournament Rex Hime, Nick O’Sullivan, and Nicholas Lewis were selected to the All-Tournament team. In both the Rocklin and Buhach Colony tournaments Jordan Huckaby was selected Most Valuable Player.
All the Del Oro boys’ basketball teams begin league play Thursday the 8th with a visit to Woodcreek High School in Roseville.
